Change is scary and Suzanna Wallace, wife for 25 years to successful Minneapolis lawyer, Brad, is forced to confront a major change in her life following Brad’s sudden death. The book is about giving up. I don't mean in the sense that all is hopeless. I mean in the sense of Suzanah giving up her past; her abusive marriage that eventually made her a widow and her motherhood because her need to finally become her own person arrived. And Jonathan, giving up his single life on the ranch, parting with his past memories and experience. This is a story of the sum of two people becoming greater than their individual parts. Each gender in the audience gets a glimpse of what goes on in the other gender's mind during the courtship phase of a budding relationship. Hasn't each one of us wondered, I wonder what that look was saying, or what did she really mean by her action or what he just said? This book gives a pretty accurate portrayal of each side, exposing the behind the scenes view.It is a well developed story and kept me wondering where it was going to go. I fully recommend this book. It is well worth the time to read.

This is a book about second choices Jonathan, who was deserted by his wife when she abandoned him and his children; and, Suzannah, who was widowed when her unfaithful husband died suddenly. Suzannah made many difficult choices from her first decision to set about a trip which took her to Jonathan's ranch to a final declaration of independence from her daughter. Johnathan grew to love Suzannah and risked his happiness when he confronted her with a decision. The story how these two found happiness is exciting and compelling! A delightful read!

Dream Chaser pulled me in because it takes place in Minnesota and Montana, and because it portrays Suzanna's journey of seeking and finding freedom after long living mainly for others. Vale's characters could be right out of our real lives. Margaret's spunky encouraging of Suzanna and Jamie's moving Jonathon along remind us of the profound impact of friends who challenge and care for us, and who move us toward the best of life. FINALLY Penny mellows out, and FINALLY Suzanna & Jonathan let each other know what they've both been thinking all along! Definitely a page turner.
I don't normally write reviews, simply because I don't have the words to say what's in my mind and heart. But this book is special. The characters, locations, and situations could have stepped right out of real life and that makes a book a success in my experience. Isn't it just like a rancher to wear western boots on a beach? Mine would have. The dreams in this book are classic; what every woman wants but rarely finds. The trials Jonathan and Suzanna lived through made them the people they became. Not just characters in a book, but real and believable. I've added all of Kate Vale's books to my wish list, and you can be sure I'll read them soon. This book deserves 5+ stars.
