I read antoher book by this author, The Highwayman by Fiona Vance, and came back for this one. These are just so much fun. There are some exciting action scenes and not just sex, but the erotic scenes are very good. And the heros are to die for. This one has more "kink" than the highwayman, and is more of a romance, but they're both terrific. I hope to find more books by this author.
Lady Juliet has no problem fulfilling her every sexual fantasy much to the chagrin of longtime friend and potential lover, James Wakefield. But when she's kidnapped by the notorious pirate, Captain Black, she may long for a gentler touch even has her body bends to darker desires.
Every girl's `Pirate Fantasy' comes true in this steamy Regency romp. I didn't know whether to fear for Juliet or envy her. A thoroughly good time!
Fiona Vance does a marvelous job of painting the picture starting from page one. You can feel the emotions coming off Juliet and James as they meet together once again. What I personally liked is how Juliet didn't hide the way she preferred to act sexually. She stayed true to herself, and James was just going to have to deal with it.
The way the author brought James around without showing his hand too soon had great timing. As for Captain Black, well...who doesn't like a little pirate in the bedroom, aye?
You won't be disappointed in this one! Even the secondary characters come alive, which is hard to come by in a short story.
This was a fun story. Juliette is both strong willed and headstrong, and yet beautifully naive. She struck me as such a realistic heroine, despite being in a completely fantastical situation. She's both determined to do things her own way, and have it all despite social mores, but deep inside, she wants the guy, and all her going-on about how she doesn't care just brought back every phone call I've ever had with friends with man trouble. Some things are just universal. So this one gets my five stars for putting such realistic character issues into a small space, and especially in a lighter story meant to be fun and sexy. Instead of being *just* fun and sexy.
And it was VERY sexy. Oh, my.
Technically, the story packs a lot into a short space. Character development is good, pacing is good, and the plot is clever and well executed. It's hard to comment much without spoilers, but it's one of those stories where the heroine doesn't quite know what's going on, but the reader does, similar to many horror plots where we've seen the monster and know what's happening while the characters have yet to find out what's behind that door... And in this case, it was extremely amusing. And sexy. Did I mention that?
This appears to be a debut by Fiona Vance. I will be looking for more.
This "book" took me about ten minutes to read. It felt like less than a short story. It wasn't bad, but I saw the 'twist' coming before I even bought the book (but hoped to be wrong), and it wasn't in any way original.
Super well written and every entertaining. The only reason I didn't I've it fivevstars was because it's a bit short for my liking,
But really enjoyed it.
Submission is a short novella that satisfies everything I wanted in a quickie erotic romance. Very much loved the historical element and all of the characters!!! Oh, and the BDSM Smex scenes were yummy too!
